Miriam Kurman is a New York based visual artist. She attended Rhode Island School of Design and received a BFA with Honors from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where she was distinguished as a Studio Scholar and awarded a Ford Foundation Grant. Kurman recently exhibited at the Independent & Image Art Space in Chongqing, China and Morris Gallery of Contemporary Art in Missouri. Solo exhibitions include: The Esther Allen Greer Museum at University of Rio Grande, OH; John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA; Minot State University, ND; Synagogue for the Arts, New York, NY; Bloomsburg University, PA; and Cazenovia College, NY. Her work has also been exhibited in New York at the Maggi Peyton Gallery-Manhattan Borough President’s Office; the Makor/Steinhardt Center of the 92nd Street Y; and Just Above Midtown/Downtown. Select exhibitions include: Morehead State University, KY; Bristol Art Museum, RI; and the Museum of the Hudson Highlands, NY. Artist residencies received include the Ucross Foundation. Kurman has been reviewed in the Lexington Herald-Leader, KY; New York Newsday; and New York Times.
